About Us
Kitara Nation is a fully registered arts company promoting poetry in secondary schools and higher institutions of learning — a vibrant space for poets to express themselves.
Making Poetry Cool Since 2016
Who We Are
Kitara Nation is a fully registered arts company founded in 2016, working primarily with secondary schools through the teaching of poetry and the staging of poetry productions.
The idea was to help students appreciate poetry — but more importantly, to help young people use poetry as a platform for expression. The poetry is mainly themed around the subject of identity.
Kitara Nation operates on a triple P model: Page, Performance and Print. The poetry is first written on the page, then taken to the stage, and finally put into print — making it permanent and shareable.
Today Kitara Nation grooms poets, organises performances, publishes their work, and helps promote individual craft — inside schools and beyond.
The Kitara Model: Page to Market
It began as the Triple P — Page, Performance, Print — and now extends to Screen and Market, carrying a poet’s work from the notebook all the way to an audience and a livelihood.
